A year of peace, simplicity and spiritual renewal with the whole Franciscan family.
The Jubilee marks eight centuries since St Francis of Assisi passed from this life, known as his Transitus. It was proclaimed by Pope Leo XIV and runs from 10 January 2026 until 10 January 2027.
The year invites us to reflect on three things: peace, evangelical poverty (living simply and trusting God), and spiritual renewal.
The Transitus itself is remembered on 3 October, and the feast of St Francis follows on 4 October.
The Holy See has granted a plenary indulgence to the faithful during this Jubilee Year. It is received by fulfilling the usual conditions together with a Jubilee act.
If you cannot travel: the elderly, the sick and the homebound may receive it by joining the celebrations in spirit and offering their prayers and sufferings to God.
