About the Jubilee

What is being celebrated

The Jubilee marks eight centuries since St Francis of Assisi passed from this life, known as his Transitus. It was proclaimed by Pope Leo XIV and runs from 10 January 2026 until 10 January 2027.

The year invites us to reflect on three things: peace, evangelical poverty (living simply and trusting God), and spiritual renewal.

The Transitus itself is remembered on 3 October, and the feast of St Francis follows on 4 October.
